Profile Information

Hometown:
Mars
Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
Usually off-planet, but I land in New Mexico from time to time; all about me is sunshine, willows and elms leafing out, daffydills blooming...I love rocks, plate tectonics, cosmology, geology, paleontology, and other -ologies I've forgotten for the moment. What's about you?
Occupation
Retired science drudge: no gold watch, no cards, just a lot of crap that inflammed my fibromyalgia. When I am vertical I am beading, reading, writing, beading, beading, beading and sometimes beading; when I have to be horizontal, I have learned to bead horizontally, although usually, if I really have to be down, I just have my head under a blanket.

Favorite Music:
Salif Kaita; anything sung by June Tabor; Oysterband (and with June Tabor); medieval and renaissance music, baroque music; Bells and Motley; Anne Briggs; some Maddy Prior; Klezmatics; Alturas; lots more
Favorite TV Shows:
Don't watch networks--USoCal, V-me, PBS and Research Channels have some good programs and lectures, LinkTV World Music is great, Science channel geology and astronomy programs when they have them are pretty simple but now have great definition so it's watchable. It's catch-as-catch-can. Oh, and Doctor Who. And Eureka on SciFi. Gee, I watch more stuff than I thought. Not good.
Favorite Movies
The City of Lost Children (with Ron Perlman); Au revoir, les Enfantes; Popeye (with Robin Williams), VanHelsing (for the fantastic beadwork and costumes--filmed in the heart of Czech beads!), Marx Brothers (up to A Night at the Opera--after that, not so much); Truly, Madly, Deeply; Godzillas (the early ones); Plan 9 from Outer Space. Nothing too gory, too violent, too much mindless profanity (although I love the movie Dogma, but that's the exception:), no tear-jerkers, not too much skin and/or stupidity. If I'm really having a bad day and nothing helps the pain, I watch Harry Potter movies for distraction. (? I don't know why them, but it works:)
